Parallel/Grid computing

Grid computing is the application of several computers to a single problem at the same time — usually to a scientific or technical problem that requires a great number of computer processing cycles or access to large amounts of data.

Installed software

The following multinode (parallel execution on a set of computers) computing software is installed in the CIP pool:

• Sun Grid Engine
• OpenMPI
• MPICH2

The following multicore (parallel execution using multiple threads on one computer) software is installed in the CIP pool:

• OpenMP

The following software combining multicore and multinode execution is installed in the CIP pool:

• MATLAB Parallel Computing Toolbox and Distributed Computing Server
• Mathematica has support for parallel computing
